The Board of Education of the Burbank Unified School District is accepting applications from qualified interested community members to become members and/or alternate members of the School Facilities Oversight Committee for the Measure ABC Bond that was recently passed. Interested community members representing the following groups are asked to apply: business organizations, senior citizens, bona fide taxpayers’ groups, parents, and parents active in PTA and/or School Site Councils.

Applications are available from the Facilities Services Department, 510 S. Shelton St., Burbank, (818) 729-5502, and under the Facilities Department tab of the District’s website: www.burbankusd.org. The application period runs from April 15 through May 16, 2025.  Applications must be returned to the Facilities Department or emailed to Crystal Cozakos at crystalcozakos@burbankusd.org no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025.

 

The Committee shall consist of at least seven (7) members (and may be larger).  The Board may also appoint Alternates and/or Ex-Officio Members for the Oversight Committee as they see fit. 

Please note:  Alternates and ex-officio members are not voting members of the Committee.

After interviewing potential members at a public meeting, the Board shall appoint members of the committee.

The Committee shall include:

  • one member who is active in a business organization representing the business community located within the District (e.g. the Chamber of Commerce);
  • one member active in a senior citizens’ organization (e.g. a local senior center);
  • one member who is active in a bona fide taxpayers’ organization;
  • one member who is the parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the District;
  • one member who is both a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the District and active in a parent-teacher organization in the District; and
  • two (2) or more general members.

Qualifications:

  1. be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the state.
  2. not be an employee or officer of the District, or a member of their immediate family.
  3. not be a vendor, contractor, or consultant of the District, or a member of the immediate family of any one of the proceeding.

For the 2024-2025 School year, all students enrolled at BUSD will receive nutrition and lunch meals at no charge. The reason to fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Applications is to qualify for additional benefits. Please see our home page "More Than a Meal". It explains the additional benefits available to those families that qualify for the program.

Lunch applications are available for the 24-25 school year (need to be completed annually)
